For Isaiah Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-18

This policy covers For Isaiah, the free communication (AAC) app for iPhone and iPad published by CVH Visuals (Christopher Van Hoose). The website, including the Wishes for Isaiah guestbook, is covered by the CVH Visuals privacy policy.

Summary

  • For Isaiah doesn't collect any data. Its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.
  • There is no account and no sign-in, and no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking.
  • The app makes no network connections. CVH Visuals runs no server for it and never receives anything said or set up in the app.
  • Everything stays on the device, and the app works fully offline.

What stays on your device

So the app can remember things between launches, it stores these on the device only:

  • The sentence being built, recently used words and the word being spelled on the letter board
  • Button edits, custom phrases, Simple Mode buttons, keyboard hotkeys and the Communication Card text
  • Photos added to People buttons, and voice clips recorded for buttons
  • Voice, speech and display settings
  • Eye Response test results, saved as numeric scores only, with no images or video

This data is included in your own iCloud or computer backup of the device, like any app's data, but it is never sent to CVH Visuals. Deleting the app removes it from the device.

Permissions

Each one is optional and only requested when you use the feature. You can turn any of them off later in Settings > Privacy & Security on the device.

Camera

The front camera is used only during the optional Eye Response tests (Settings > Eye Response Tests), to measure how the eyes follow targets on the screen. Apple's ARKit processes the frames on the device. They are never saved, sent or shared, and the camera turns off when a test ends. The app doesn't use the camera at any other time.

Microphone

The microphone is used only when a caregiver records a voice clip for a button. The clip is saved on the device and plays when that button is tapped. Recordings are never sent or shared, and the app doesn't listen at any other time.

Photos

Photos for People buttons are chosen with the iOS photo picker, so the app sees only the photo you pick, never the rest of your library. A copy of that photo is stored on the device.

Not used

For Isaiah doesn't use speech recognition, contacts, location or health data.

Speech

Sentences are spoken by the iOS voice you choose in the app, which runs on the device. Nothing you say through the app is sent anywhere.

The Help button

The Help button sounds an alert on the device itself: a chime, a spoken call for help and a flashing screen. It doesn't phone, message or notify anyone, and sends no data.

Links out of the app

Settings > About has a link to this website and a feedback email address. They open in Safari and Mail, outside the app. If you email feedback, I receive only what you choose to send, and use it only to reply to you and improve the app.

Beta testing

If you test For Isaiah through Apple's TestFlight, TestFlight shows me the name and email address you were invited with, the build and device you install on, and any feedback, screenshots and crash reports you choose to send. These are used only to fix and improve the app, under Apple's privacy policy.

Children

For Isaiah is suitable for people of any age. It doesn't ask for a name, age, email or any other personal information from anyone, children included, and collects no data at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. The app doesn't contact any server, so it can't notify you; check this page for changes.
