Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-11

This policy covers the apps published by CVH Visuals (Switcher Pro, GenR8, ResEditor, MyRate+ and CAIRN) and the cvhvisuals.com website.

Summary

  • The apps don't collect any data. There are no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking in them, and CVH Visuals receives nothing from your device.
  • The website has no analytics and no advertising. CVH Visuals sets no cookies of its own; the contact form's hCaptcha check may set one on hcaptcha.com.
  • If you use the contact form, your message is relayed by Web3Forms to my inbox so I can reply, after an hCaptcha spam check. It isn't used for anything else, and it isn't sold.
  • If you leave a wish on the For Isaiah page, the name and message you enter are stored on this site's server. They're shown publicly on that page only after they've been approved, and you can ask for yours to be removed at any time through the contact page. Your IP address is used only, in hashed form, to limit how many messages can be sent in an hour, and isn't stored with your wish.

The apps

Each app's App Store listing shows Apple's privacy label as “Data Not Collected”: the developer doesn't collect any data from the app. (MyRate+, CAIRN and For Isaiah are in beta on TestFlight and will carry the same label.) What that means for each one:

Switcher Pro

Switcher Pro connects straight from your device to OBS on a computer you choose, over your own network or VPN. Connection profiles and settings are stored on your device. Nothing passes through CVH Visuals' servers, and the app doesn't send usage, diagnostic or crash data to CVH Visuals or to any third party.

GenR8

GenR8 generates test patterns and tones on your device and sends them to the displays and audio outputs you connect. Your settings, and any patterns you export, stay on your device unless you choose to share them. The app doesn't send usage, diagnostic or crash data to CVH Visuals or to any third party.

ResEditor

ResEditor does its calculations on your device and works offline. Your settings and any PDFs you export stay on your device unless you choose to share them. The app doesn't send usage, diagnostic or crash data to CVH Visuals or to any third party.

MyRate+

MyRate+ has no account and no sign-in, and no analytics, advertising or tracking. CVH Visuals has no server that receives your data, and the app makes no network requests of its own.

Where your data lives. Projects, clients, time entries, rates, invoices, payments, receipts, expenses, mileage trips and tax settings are stored on your device and, if iCloud is on for your Apple Account, in your own private iCloud database, which Apple uses to sync your iPhone and iPad. CVH Visuals can't access it.

Permissions. Each one is optional and only requested when you use the feature. Location (While Using or Always) runs geofence clock-in and clock-out at a project's location and GPS mileage tracking during a trip; it is processed on your device and never sent to CVH Visuals. Camera scans paper receipts, with the text read on your device. Photos lets you pick a receipt photo or invoice logo; only the photo you choose is used. Notifications are shift, clock-out and payment reminders scheduled on your device.

Apple Maps. Address search and maps are provided by Apple. The search text you type is sent to Apple to return results, under Apple's privacy policy.

Sharing and deleting. Data leaves the app only when you choose: emailing an invoice, sharing a PDF, exporting CSV, QuickBooks, QIF or calendar files, or saving a backup. Deleting the app removes its data from your device; to remove synced data, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage and delete MyRate+'s data. Tax figures in the app are estimates for planning, not tax advice.

For Isaiah

For Isaiah is a communication (AAC) app. It has no account and no sign-in, no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking, and it makes no network requests of its own. CVH Visuals runs no server for it and never receives anything said or set up in the app.

On your device. The sentence being built, recently used words, button edits, custom phrases, people photos, recorded voice clips, eye-response test results and your settings are stored on the device, and included in your own device backup like any app's data.

Permissions. Each one is optional and only requested when you use the feature. The front camera is used only during the Eye Response tests to measure how the eyes follow on-screen targets; frames are processed on the device and never stored or sent anywhere. The microphone is used only when a caregiver records a voice clip for a button; clips stay on the device. Photos for the People buttons are chosen with the system photo picker, so the app only sees the ones you select.

Sharing and deleting. Data leaves the app only if you choose to, for example by emailing feedback. Deleting the app removes its data from the device.

CAIRN

CAIRN is a companion app for MeshCore LoRa mesh radios. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no tracking, and CVH Visuals runs no server for it. CVH Visuals never receives your messages, contacts, channels, location, radio keys or usage data.

On your device. Messages, reactions and message paths; saved and heard nodes, contact groups, trace paths, repeater status history (snapshots older than a year are removed automatically) and the packet log; your settings and any background photo you pick; offline map packs; a cached malware link list; and a debug log. Repeater and room passwords you save are kept in the iOS Keychain, on this device only. Photos are chosen with the system photo picker, so CAIRN only sees the ones you select.

Your radio and the mesh. CAIRN talks to your radio over Bluetooth, or over Wi-Fi on your local network. Messages go from your phone to your radio and from there by LoRa radio to other people's radios, peer to peer, with no internet server in between. Anyone in radio range with the right channel or keys can receive mesh messages, and public and hashtag channels use well-known keys, so treat them as public. Your node's name and public key are broadcast in adverts so other nodes can find you. There is no central server, so CVH Visuals can't see, moderate or delete messages on the mesh.

Location. CAIRN asks for location only while the app is in use, never “Always”. It uses your position on the device for maps, the GPS tab, distances and bearings to nodes, and sunrise and sunset. To suggest a radio preset for your region, it asks Apple's geocoding service for your country and state or province; if you don't allow location, you pick the region yourself and nothing is sent. Sharing your position on the mesh is off unless you turn it on; then it is sent to your radio and included in its adverts, where other mesh users can see it. It is never sent to CVH Visuals.

Services the app contacts directly. Some features need the internet. Your device then connects straight to the service, which sees your IP address like any web request; CVH Visuals receives nothing from them.

  • OpenFreeMap: standard map tiles, and the small map thumbnails for locations in chats (you can turn these off in Settings).
  • Esri and OpenTopoMap: satellite and topographic tiles, only if you pick those map styles.
  • Open-Meteo: terrain elevation for the points you check with the Line of Sight tool.
  • malware-filter / URLhaus: a plain download of a malicious-link list, at most once every 7 days, with none of your data.
  • Websites linked in messages: only if you turn on link previews or inline images (off by default), including Giphy for GIF codes.

Downloaded offline maps show without further requests. Links you tap open in Safari.

Apple features. Siri, Shortcuts and CarPlay can read messages aloud and send replies; those requests are handled by Apple. When you send a message, CAIRN tells iOS which contact or channel you wrote to (not what you wrote) so Siri can suggest it; you can turn this off under Siri in the Settings app. Translation uses Apple's Translation framework or your chosen translation app. Notifications and the Live Activity are generated on your device, with no push server.

Permissions. Bluetooth (your radio, including in the background), Local Network (Wi-Fi radios), Location While Using (above), Camera (scanning channel and contact QR codes), Add to Photos (Save Image from the share sheet), Siri, and Notifications. All of them are optional and can be changed in iOS Settings.

Exports and deleting data. Backups, CSV/GPX exports, radio configuration exports and debug logs are only created when you ask, and go wherever you send them with the share sheet; treat them as private. App data may be included in your normal iCloud or computer backup (offline maps excluded). Deleting the app removes all its data; in the app, Forget Device & Delete Data removes what is stored for a radio, and Factory Reset erases the radio itself. Messages already received by other radios are outside anyone's control.

Beta testing. If you join the MyRate+ or CAIRN beta, you send me your email address through the contact form so I can invite you through Apple's TestFlight. TestFlight then shows me the name and email address you were invited with, the build and device you install on, and any feedback, screenshots and crash reports you choose to send. These are used only to fix and improve the app, under Apple's privacy policy.

Purchases and Apple

App downloads and in-app purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. CVH Visuals doesn't receive your name, Apple ID or payment details. If you've agreed to share crash reports and usage statistics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports to developers. That is controlled by you and governed by Apple's privacy policy.

The website

Contact form

When you send the contact form, it goes from your browser to Web3Forms, a form-relay service, which emails it to my iCloud Mail inbox (run by Apple). The submission includes your name, email address, topic and message, any details you fill in (event dates or timeline, app and device, or the content pack you're asking about) and the address of the page it was sent from. Web3Forms also receives your IP address and browser information, as any web service does. See Web3Forms' privacy policy. I use your message only to reply to you, and I keep the email for as long as the conversation needs.

Spam check. The form uses hCaptcha to tell people from bots. When the contact page loads, the hCaptcha check collects device and browser signals (such as your IP address, browser type and how the page is used) and may set its own cookie on hcaptcha.com. hCaptcha is governed by its privacy policy and terms of service.

If JavaScript is off. The form then posts to this site's own server instead, which emails your name, email address, topic, details and message to me together with your IP address (used to spot abuse). To stop spam floods, the server limits how often one address can send. For this it keeps a small file in the server's temporary folder with a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) and the times of your recent sends. Times older than one hour are ignored and dropped the next time that address sends. The file is not used for anything else.

Fonts

The site's fonts are served from this site, so loading a page sends no requests to Google Fonts or any other font service.

Cookies and analytics

CVH Visuals sets no cookies of its own; the contact form's hCaptcha check may set one on hcaptcha.com (see Contact form above). The site uses no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising. Videos on the home page are served from this site. Links to YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Facebook, GitHub and the App Store open those services, which have their own privacy policies.

Server logs

Like most web hosts, the company that hosts cvhvisuals.com may keep standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, date and time, browser type) for security and operation. These logs are managed by the host and are not used by CVH Visuals for tracking or marketing.

Sharing

CVH Visuals doesn't sell or rent personal information, and shares it only with the services that make the site and apps work. These are the ones named above: Apple (App Store, TestFlight and iCloud Mail), Web3Forms (contact form delivery), hCaptcha (contact form spam check), the web host, and the map, elevation and link services CAIRN contacts directly from your device.

Children

The apps and website aren't directed at children under 13, and CVH Visuals doesn't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent personal information through the contact form, email me and I'll delete it.

Your choices

You can ask what I hold about you (in practice, only emails you've sent) and ask me to delete it by emailing the address below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
